Installation Guide for Mendeley Desktop for Mac OS X. Dragging Mendeley Desktop into your Applications folder will install the application. This video will show you how to install medeley plugin for MS word in Mac Operating System.
Step 2: In-Text Citation
After installing the plugin, open Word document (new or document you are currently working on), and follow the steps below to start with in-text citations:
A. From within Word
1. Place the cursor where you would like to insert your in-text citation then go to the References tab and click on the Insert Citation button.
2. Search by Author, Title or Year, andselect the relevant article from the list of results. You can search for more articles if you are citing more than one.
3. When done, click on the OK.
4. Select the citation style you will be using in the References tab in Word from the Style Pst file viewer for mac. drop-down list. If it does not appear in the list, then select the More Styles..
B. From Mendeley
1. Place your cursor where you want the citation to be inserted and click Insert Citation in References tab.
2. Click Go To Mendeley.
3. Select the reference(s) and click on Cite.
C. Year-Only In-text Citations
When using 'Author-Date' Style, you might need to use only the date in the text, such as 'Smith (2009) argued', in that case you enter the citation as explained in the steps above, and you remove the author(s) following the below:
1. Click on the in-text citation so that it is highlighted, then click on Edit Citation ['Add or Edit Citation' in Mac]in the References tab.

2. Click on the author name so that it is highlighted, then tick the Suppress Author box, and click OK.

Follow the steps of section C right above, and in the editing window, insert the page number(s) and click on OK.
Mendeley also provides a Web Importer tool which allows you to import citations, and sometimes the full text article, directly from your browser in to your library.

To install the plugin from the Mendeley app click Tools >> Install Web Importer. Gameloft for mac.

Depending on which browser you use the importer will be in a different location but regardless of the browser it will function the same.
In Chrome and Firefox the plugin appears in the upper right corner of your browser, while for Safari and Edge users, the Mendeley plugin shows up in the bookmarks or favorites bar.

Browser Security Conflicts
Sometimes there is a conflict with your browser's security settings and the plugin. Follow the steps below to resolve this issue:
Chrome
Click 'Customise' (three black lines on the top right of the screen), and then 'Settings'. Click 'Show Advanced Settings' at the bottom of the page, then click 'Content Settings..' under 'Privacy'. Then, under 'Cookies' click 'Manage exceptions..' and allow mendeley.com, then click 'Done'.

Mozilla Firefox
Click the Menu button at the top right and click 'Options'. Then, under the 'Privacy' tab, either set the 'History' drop down option to 'Use custom settings for history' tick 'Accept Third Party Cookies'. Add www.mendeley.com to the 'Exceptions' box. Click 'Save Changes' to save.
